Kids Activities – Rainbow Craft

Inspired by the brilliant kids book “My Color is Rainbow” by Agnes Hsu of the awesome Hello, Wonderful blog, the boys and I created a little rainbow craft for kids.

The book’s message is about kindness, love and acceptance of all. Through the text and illustrations the child understands that it is through their own actions and kindness that can help make a difference to another.

Agnes uses the Rainbow as the perfect metaphor to bring this message home. Rainbows symbolise so much to so many people. For kids rainbows spark their imagination and allow them to believe in its magic, is there a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? More than likely not, but chasing rainbows and hope is what a childhood is all about.

Rainbow craft for kids:

With this is as our inspiration we decided to make some kids craft. We had some leftover felt from when we made superhero masks for Jasper’s 6th Birthday party and with some scissors and glue we created a little rainbow puppet.  We then used the puppet to tell stories and act out the story from the “My Color is Rainbow”.

All you need to create this Rainbow kids craft is:

  1. Different colour felt
  2.  Hot glue or craft glue
  3. Scissors
  4. Paddle pop sticks
