Goodbyn is our new Hero

We were gifted a bento style lunchbox, the Goodbyn Hero from the brilliant site Munch Cupboard to test out and review. Given that I am really quite enamored with the Yumbox lunchboxes for the boys it was going to be a tough test and review!

The Goodbyn Hero is a larger style Bento lunchbox that comes with 3 main compartments as well as 2 separate storage containers. I love Bento style lunchboxes for the boys as the compartments mean the foods don’t get all mushed up with each other and visually lunch time looks exciting and we all know that kids are quite visual when it comes to eating food!

We look after a friend’s son after school one day a week and my kids will have always eaten their food when I pick them up and he won’t have touched much at all. I honestly think after seeing the same thing week in week out this term, that it comes down to presentation because his food is sometimes way more delicious than what I give my kids but because there are plastic wrappings, plastic zip-lock bags and many different containers it makes it harder for the him to eat quickly and easily. We all know that kids just want to play at lunchtime at school so lunch needs to look great, be easily accessible as well as yum!

A limitation I have found with the Yumbox Original and Panino is that some days my kids need more food than what I can fit in the lunchbox and the Goodbyn is perfect for this. Actually it makes a great lunchbox for teens and adults too!

It fits a sandwich in it but due to the size you can add other things on top of the sandwich if you need to or even put 2 sandwiches in this large compartment.

In the 2 small compartments I tend to put vegetables and fruit but again due to the larger size of this lunchbox, I then tend to add hummus in the small Tupperware container supplied and pop it on top of the vegetables. Another option which I like with these added containers is that you can put other foods like yoghurt or even pasta.

The separate containers can also be used for “Crunch & Sip” time so prevalent in Australian schools. They easily fit cut up fruit and vegetables and can be separated from the lunchbox for this specific meal time at school, along with a bottle of water.

Goodbyn Hero is extremely versatile and what I love is the ability to pack a substantial lunch for my eldest in particular and even sometimes my almost 5 year old as they have certainly been increasing their appetites of late. I am not quite sure what I will do when they are teenagers!

I am really loving the additional small tupperware containers as they give scope for more food options. The lunchbox in its entirety, allows for wraps, sandwiches, muffins, rice crackers, sushi, pasta, fruit, hummus or vegetables, basically anything you can think of!

Goodbyn Hero is BPA- and phthalate-free, and 100 percent recyclable which I love and find super important when it comes to my children, their health and the environment. I also love that I can put it in the dishwasher at the end of the day. Yay!

The Goodbyn is quickly becoming my go-to lunch box each day for my eldest, that is if it isn’t snaffled by their Dad first for his lunches!!
